Under the leadership of Dr. Nurcan DÜZGÜN from Gazi University Faculty of Nursing, Department of Mental Health and Diseases Nursing, by Elife KAPLAN, Elif ÖZDEMİR, Sude BAĞBAŞI, and Huriye AKGÜL, 2nd-year students of the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, "Effective Listening Training for Primary School Students" was held on 09.05.2024 at the Türkiye Noterler Birliği Primary School within the scope of the Social Responsibility Project 'Two listen, one says.
Within the scope of the event, the focus was on raising awareness about effective listening in primary school students, emphasizing the difference between listening and hearing, initiating behavioral change, and thus making students more successful in their lessons. At the same time, the subject of communication with children/adolescents was reinforced by the theme of 'Inclusive and Qualified Education' within the scope of the 'Self-Knowledge and Communication Methods' course taken by Gazi University Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department 2nd grade students.
Within the scope of Active Listening Training, information on "what is active listening, what are the benefits of active listening, what are the factors that prevent effective listening, what can be done for effective listening," etc. was given, and questions from students were answered. To attract the attention of primary school students, an educational video on active listening was shown, and a handkerchief-catching game with active listening content was played. The training attracted significant interest from primary school students. The event ended with the distribution of brochures prepared for informational purposes.
