Dean's Message

Nursing is one of the oldest health profession groups that reveals the indispensability of its existence along with the existence of humanity. Human is a needing care from pre-birth to the post-death period. Nursing is a profession that professionally offers care to humanity. In the historical process, wars, disasters, fires, epidemics, etc. Many crisis situations have increased the need for nursing. Similarly, today, wars, epidemics, chronic diseases, migrations, hunger, drought, etc. We are faced with many situations that threaten the health of humanity. In this context, the need for nursing shows itself more and more every day.

Nurses, especially hospitals; educational institutions, workplaces, family health centers, elderly care homes, home care centers, community health centers, etc. they work in institutions and organizations. Nurses can be caregivers, educators, consultants, researchers, managers, leadership, collaborators, etc. They offer these services using their many roles. Nurses, who started to be trained with formal education since the 19th century, continue their education in universities in the world and in our country.

The School of Nursing affiliated to Gazi University was established with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 04/07/1995 and numbered 95/7044 and started education in the 1999-2000 academic year. Nursing continued to serve as the School of Nursing between 1999-2008, and as the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Gazi University since 14.07.2008. Gazi University Faculty of Nursing was established with the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions and with the decision numbered 2809 published in the Official Gazette dated 04.08.2022 and numbered 31913.

Gazi University Faculty of Nursing aims to train nurses who are experts in their fields and who feel the "Privilege of Being a Veteran", have professional competence, and adopt community service as a professional obligation. Our esteemed rector, who brought Gazi the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Dr. I would like to thank Musa Yildiz, the management of our Faculty of Health Sciences for their unwavering support during this process, and all our academic staff and administrative staff who worked hard during the faculties process.
