Dean of our Faculty Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz Alkaya carried out the training titled ‘Health Literacy for Healthy Life’ within the scope of In-Service Training Programmes of our University.

The in-service training programme titled ‘Health Literacy for a Healthy Life’ was held for our academic and administrative staff by the Directorate of Education Branch of the Personnel Department of our University.
While the moderator of the online programme was Ayça Tunçay, Education Branch Manager, our Dean Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz Alkaya took part in the programme as an instructor. Head of Administrative and Financial Affairs Department Aydın Kayaer, Head of Personnel Department Fahrettin Ecik, academic and administrative staff and students attended the programme.
Speaking at the opening, Education Branch Manager Ayça Tunçay stated that they organised the 27th in-service training programme in 2024. Ayça Tunçay thanked everyone who contributed to the organisation of the programme and then gave the floor to Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz Alkaya to make the presentation.
Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz Alkaya, who started her presentation by talking about the meaning and importance of healthy life, made a presentation containing rich information on the concept of health literacy, its importance, components, types and levels, strategies to increase health literacy, health literacy and gender, health information sources. Alkaya mentioned that healthy life is not only limited to physical health but also related to physical, emotional and social well-being.
Dean Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz Alkaya also talked about strategies to increase the level of health literacy and said 'These strategies can be diversified as increasing education and employment opportunities, developing health education materials, and expanding the use of the internet'. Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz Alkaya emphasised the importance of improving health literacy in adolescent age groups and shared information about the purpose, importance and results of these studies by showing the studies she conducted to prove this importance.
Finally, Prof. Dr. Alkaya underlined that raising the level of health literacy of individuals is an important issue for a healthy society and concluded her presentation by stating that health literacy is indispensable for a healthy life. The programme ended after the question-answer activity.
