Our PhD Programme graduate, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Bucak School of Health, advised by our faculty member Assoc. Assist. Dr. Hatice TUNÇ's doctoral thesis titled "The Effect of 'Knee Prosthesis School' Education Programme on Patient Expectations, Anxiety, Pain, Functional Status, Quality of Life and Satisfaction", the patient school developed within the scope of the doctoral thesis study started to serve as 'Knee School' with the opening ceremony held at Bucak State Hospital on 3 November 2023.

'Knee School', which is a comprehensive training curriculum and evaluation developed for patients who are planned for knee replacement surgery, which includes group education in the preoperative period, individualised patient education and patient follow-up in the postoperative period, is the 'first' in our country and in the world as a patient school. Bucak District Governor Bayram GALE, Burdur Provincial Health Director Dr Murat ERK, District Health Director Dr Yasemin ERK, Chief Physician of Bucak State Hospital Uzm. Dr. Bilal TANRITANIR, Bucak School of Health Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Gürkan DİLEK, Health Care Services Manager Eylem Gürcan, Health Care Services Assistant Manager Fatma Mutlu, Gazi University Faculty of Nursing Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevil GÜLER, Bucak School of Health Research Assist. Assist. Dr. Hatice TUNÇ, Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic Responsible Nurse Abdülkerim ÇETİN and clinic nurses participated.

At the opening ceremony, Chief Physician of the Hospital, Uzm. Dr. Bilal TANRITANIR, the architects of the project for their valuable contributions to the development of the 'Knee School' programme and its launch in their hospital. Assist. Prof. Dr. Hatice TUNÇ and her advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevil GÜLER for their valuable contribution to the development of the 'Knee School' programme and its launch in their hospital and emphasised that their support and cooperation is needed for this good example to become widespread in our country. Bucak School of Health Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Gürkan DİLEK, Burdur Mehmet Akif University Bucak School of Health, Bucak State Hospital and Gazi University Faculty of Nursing, presented a plaque to Research Assistant Professor Hatice TUNÇ and her supervisor Assoc. Assist. Dr. Hatice TUNÇ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevil GÜLER and Uzm. Dr Bilal TANRITANIR were presented a Certificate of Appreciation. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sevil GÜLER stated that the 'Knee Prosthesis School' was founded by Assoc. Assist. Prof. Dr. Hatice TUNÇ, that she is proud of its success and that they will work for the dissemination of the programme in the next stage, that the stakeholders in the dissemination stage are Bucak State Hospital, Bucak School of Health and Gazi University Faculty of Nursing, and that cooperation and support will continue.
