The “Architects of Care: Experts and Candidates Hand in Hand” Career Days event, organized in collaboration with the Gazi University Faculty of Nursing, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, and the Gazi University Health Research and Application Center Directorate of Nursing Services was held on April 27, 2026, at the 75th Year Hall of Gazi University Hospital.
The event commenced with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem. The opening speech was delivered by Begüm Çınar, Director of Nursing Services at Gazi University Health Research and Application Center and Prof. Dr. Nurcan Çalışkan, Dean of the Gazi University Faculty of Nursing. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of specialization and experience sharing in the nursing profession, highlighting the value of such events in contributing to students’ professional development. The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Zehra Göçmen Baykara, a faculty member of the Gazi University Faculty of Nursing.
During the event, expert nurses from various fields not only shared their professional knowledge but also conveyed their experiences from the units in which they work in a sincere and engaging manner. Presentations covered care processes in specialized areas such as intensive care, emergency, oncology, pediatrics, and operating room nursing. The speakers discussed the dynamic nature of working in these fields, the
challenges encountered, and the aspects that provide professional satisfaction. They also highlighted the key competencies gained in their respective areas, including clinical expertise, rapid decision-making, teamwork, and patient communication, emphasizing that each field contributes uniquely to both professional and personal development. Furthermore, they noted that working in these areas offers significant advantages for prospective nurses in terms of experience, sense of responsibility, and professional competence.
In the final session of the program, titled “Students Ask, Nurses Answer,” students had the opportunity to directly address their questions to experienced nurses. This interactive session attracted considerable interest from participants.
