“Elderly Health Management Symposium in Disasters” was Held

The activity called "Elderly Health Management Symposium in Disasters" was organized with a wide participation on December 25, 2023, in cooperation with our University Faculty of Nursing, Department of Internal Medicine Nursing and Ankara Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz Alkaya, Symposium President Prof. Dr. Ülkü Polat, representatives of the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, faculty members, guests and students attended the program held in the Rectorate Mimar Kemaleddin Hall. The opening speech of the program, which started with the moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, was made by Prof. Dr. Ramazan Bayındır did it. Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz Alkaya and Symposium President Prof.Dr. Ülkü POLAT made speeches at the opening, emphasizing the purpose and importance of organizing the symposium. In the symposium sessions,” risk management in natural disasters and their effects on health”, “approach to physical and psychosocial problems seen in elderly individuals in disasters”, “ethical principles and values that should be taken into consideration in caring for the elderly during disasters”, “approach to elderly individuals with chronic diseases in disasters”, “the roles of nurses in protecting and maintaining the health of elderly people in disasters” and “social services for the elderly in disasters” were presented by speakers who are experts in their fields. Questions, answers and suggestions of the participants were included in each session of the symposium. The symposium program ended successfully and efficiently.
